Pair of "Tutankhamun Throne" Armchairs
circa 1930
Carved and polychrome wood. The arms are formed as falcons with outstretched wings resting on palmette-decorated supports. The curved back is carved with a depiction of Tutankhamun and Queen Ankhesenamun beneath the winged sun disc, framed by hieroglyphs. The front uprights terminate in lion heads and paws. Turned and carved stretcher.
